Tonic Flow

Pictures for the People worked with Southbank Centre to create a social-first film celebrating “Tonic Flow”, a collaborative music and arts project created with Southbank Voices and young people from local schools to mark the Southbank Centre’s 75th anniversary. Designed to capture the energy, creativity, and inclusivity of the project, the film brings together reflections from the artists, educators, and young participants involved, alongside performances of the song and an interactive public artwork created with young refugee artists from the Compass Collective. Giving Young Voices Space to Be Heard

The film explores how “Tonic Flow” brings music, creativity, and young people together, with participants reflecting on the freedom of singing, meeting new people, and expressing themselves outside the classroom. It highlights the Southbank Centre as a space where young voices are actively encouraged to take up space, with the project connecting its 75th anniversary to the founding idea of the Centre as a “tonic for the nation”. The film also showcases the project’s visual artwork, created by Luciana with the Compass Collective, alongside an interactive installation that allows members of the public to remix elements of the song and create their own music.
