Thames Freeport launched its Frame the Future competition to give young people from the local area the opportunity to share their vision for improving their community through film. The winning idea came from Joseph, who worked alongside Pictures for the People to develop his concept into a professionally produced short film. With our guidance throughout the production process, Joseph took on the role of director, bringing his perspective to life while gaining hands-on experience in filmmaking. The result is a powerful, authentic film that highlights the untapped talent, ambition, and potential within Thurrock, while demonstrating the impact of investing in young voices.

Empowering Young Voices Through Film

The film explores the challenges and opportunities facing young people in Thurrock, combining Joseph’s personal narrative with interviews featuring local role models, including Team GB boxer Isaac Okoh and community sports leaders. Together, they reflect on the importance of access to opportunities, facilities, and support for the next generation. More than a competition prize, the project became a platform for creative expression, giving a young filmmaker the confidence and tools to tell a story that represents his community.
