Guardians of the Internet
Pictures for the People worked with Mencap and Google to create a series of accessible video guides designed to help young people with learning disabilities explore the internet safely and confidently. The project focused on breaking down digital barriers through clear, inclusive storytelling that informs, engages, and empowers young audiences. By combining live action with bold, approachable animation, the films demonstrate how London-based video production can support digital inclusion through thoughtful, audience-first design. Empowering Young People Through Inclusive Storytelling
The guides were developed using a hybrid approach, blending real-life scenarios with animated motion graphics to visualise concepts such as privacy, consent, and safe sharing. Rather than focusing on restriction, the films position young people as confident decision-makers, encouraging independence and positive online behaviour. Bright visuals, simple language, and an encouraging tone ensure the content feels relatable and empowering, while remaining practical and informative. The final videos serve as impactful digital resources that support safer online choices and inclusive learning.
