Border to Coast commissioned Pictures for the People to produce a series of films highlighting their sustainable investment initiatives and the positive impact these projects have on local communities. The project aimed to show how the partnership with renewable energy developers enables long-term financial returns for pension funds while creating tangible social and environmental benefits across the UK.
What Border to Coast Wanted to Achieve
The goal was to communicate how investments from their partner funds — which support pensions for millions of members — are generating meaningful impact beyond financial returns. The films needed to illustrate the range of asset classes they invest in, from renewable energy to social housing and life sciences, while also demonstrating how these projects benefit communities directly.
Bringing the Story to Life On Screen
We worked closely with Border to Coast to capture the human and technical aspects of their sustainable investments. The films feature projects such as Morehouse Wind Farm near Darlington, showcasing how revenue from these initiatives is reinvested into local community projects, including beekeeping schemes and other community-led initiatives. Interviews with staff, partners, and community members highlighted the positive effects on people, the environment, and local economies, bringing the scale, expertise, and purpose of Border to Coast’s work to life.
