About James Hastings

James is a London-based director and videographer who has been making films for 15 years. He has a passion for telling stories that emotionally resonate and is drawn to narratives that explore connection and vulnerability, creating films that feel both intimate and cinematic.

His award-winning short films include Wild Bear (2025) and Slightly Red Handed (2021), which have screened internationally at venues and festivals including BFI Southbank, IMAX London and Cannes Film Festival. One of his shorts was produced/funded by the renowned festival ‘Kino London’ and another received distribution through ‘Omeleto’.

Alongside his narrative work, James has directed commercials for brands including UNiDAYS, Kier Group and Frontline. He works across documentary, branded and narrative content at Pictures for the People, collaborating with clients such as West One Music, Royal Collection Trust and Pan Macmillan.
